TRAINING

Sharing our passion for bees is what we love to do. Learn about bees in the privacy of your own home by scheduling monthly training with one of our knowledgeable beekeepers. We will work with you to design a beekeeping program that suits your needs. Set up sessions by the week, by the month or as often as you like. Whether you are a newbee just starting out or an existing beekeeper looking to refresh your knowledge base, our in-hive training will help you feel comfortable and confident when working within your hive. Learn hive inspection techniques, how to ascertain the health of a hive, mite testing options, mite treatments, when to add or take away boxes and more. Let us know what you would like to learn, and our beekeeper will show up in your bee yard ready to assist you in your journey. Areas of service include: Los Angeles city limits, Santa Monica, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale, the San Fernando Valley, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley. Give us a call at (818) 280-6500 and let the learning begin. Pricing starts at $150 a visit. Package pricing may be available.

MONTHLY SERVICE

Adding a backyard hive can be a wonderful addition to your outdoor space.  Bees are prolific pollinators, which means they help your plants reproduce and flourish. Gardens with beehives grow more fruits and vegetables and help support the bee populations in the area. A backyard hive provides a beautiful focal point as well. The honey created from a single hive is like no other, as bees need to visit a million flowers to make one jar of honey and each environment is unique and cannot be replicated. With our monthly maintenance program, you can receive all these benefits without ever opening up a hive. The Valley Hive will assist in customizing a service plan that is right for you. Our professional beekeeping staff will do everything from surveying your site to placing your bees, performing regular hive maintenance, and extracting honey when the time is right. Call us at (818)280-6500 for more information and to start enjoying the benefits of the bees.

EXTRACTION

One of the best things about keeping bees is being able to harvest honey. Sweet! The best time to remove the honey is after 90 percent of the frames are capped. When the nectar flow has stopped and the bees have finished producing honey, the frames can be removed from the hive for honey harvesting.  If you have honey to extract, but don’t want to deal with the sticky mess of extracting, The Valley Hive can extract your honey supers for you. Honey extraction services are available during the beekeeping season. Honey can either be extracted into buckets or jars. Prices start at $100 plus 79 cents a pound. To make an appointment or for more information, please call (818) 280-6500.

HIVE REMOVAL

When your drain is clogged, you call a plumber. When you have bees in your chimney, be sure to call a beekeeper. Extracting bees is a skilled job and requires someone with beekeeping knowledge.  So, when you are faced with an unwanted colony of bees, for instance in a wall or an attic, The Valley Hive can assist you in safely and humanely relocating your unwanted buzzing guests. Bees are important pollinators and have been dying out in record numbers over the last decade. Pesticides not only kill the bees; they are also harmful to the environment and kill other beneficial insects. The Valley Hive is dedicated to saving the buzz and recommends calling a beekeeping professional to relocate bees whenever possible. Our reliable beekeeping staff or one of our trusted community partners will come out and remove and relocate your unwanted hive to a remote bee yard where the bees can continue to thrive in a more suitable location. Please note: while we would like to be able to save every hive, we do not offer free bee removals. Give us a call at (818) 280-6500 for more information about relocating your unwanted beehive.
